For more than five years H-PON in collaboration with University of California, the Tanzania Ministry of Health and other stakeholders has been working on finding better ways to reaching the 95-95-95 goal through strengthening continuity of ART care and improve testing.

H-PON has implemented a series of AFYA research project; AFYA 1, AFYA 2 and AFYA 2 phase II in Mwanza, Shinyanga, Geita and Kagera regionss of Tanzania to see how cash and food assistance can improve ART adherence.

On sexual reproductive health, H-PON has and is implementing research studies targeting young adolescents. Currently H-PON is implementing a research study to evaluate ambassadors for health; supporting adolescents and young girls health through girl-friendly drug vendors in Mwanza and Shinyanga.

HPON is also conducting research activities in other new areas, including:

  1. A cluster randomised trial to assess the impact of a combined Microfinance and participatory gender training intervention for women, and a participatory gender training programme for women and their male partners in reducing intimate partner violence.
  2. A Phase 1 study to evaluate the safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of heterologous prime-boost regimens using MVA-BN®-Filo and Ad26.ZEBOV administered in different sequences and schedules in healthy adults.
  3. A study to investigate the predictors of intimate partner violence: A mixed method longitudinal
    study in Tanzania.
  4. A study to determine the incidence of drowning and related risk factors among fishing
    populations, conducted in 8 fishing communities of Lake Victoria.
